I am a primary care physician and clinical researcher at NYC Health + Hospitals / Harlem. My group applies target-trial emulation and propensity-score methods to the NIH All of Us Research Program — more than 747,000 participants — to answer drug-safety, health-equity, and care-delivery questions for safety-net populations, and trains clinicians at every level to do the same.

Causal inference from real-world data

Active-comparator, new-user designs in the NIH All of Us Researcher Workbench, applying propensity-score and inverse-probability weighting to emulate trials that were never run — most recently on semaglutide and adult-onset seizure risk (Neurology, 2026) and GLP-1 receptor agonists in early cardio-kidney-metabolic disease.

Social determinants of metabolic liver disease

Our Nutrients 2026 study showed food insecurity and neighborhood deprivation are independently associated with incident MASLD in a diverse U.S. cohort — evidence that the path to liver health runs through the social environment, not the clinic alone.

Disparities in gastrointestinal disease and cancer

Racial, gender, and socioeconomic disparities in colorectal cancer, hepatitis linkage-to-care, and GI bleeding — work recognized with an ASCO 2024 oral presentation and the Conquer Cancer – Eisai Merit Award.

Research education

Building a research education program at a safety-net hospital: an AI-assisted big-data curriculum with 40+ hours of training delivered and 1:1 All of Us tutorials for residents and students, co-led with Drs. Rhonda Trousdale and Marie Thearle.

Medical & undergraduate students

All of Us projects on sickle cell disease, social determinants of health, and lung-cancer histology; SCD clinic volunteering with a published abstract.
